Today has been a pretty good Fathers Day. Jordan is happy with his new copy of Ghostbusters for PS3 and he got some yummy treats from Sean, Brynn and the kids. We gave my dad a gift card for Sizzlers which he was way excited about, he loves Sizzlers. Then we went to Sean and Brynn's for a yummy Fathers Day dinner. Jayson brought Richard and Jessica (I think that was her name, first time I've met her) and Marlei was there too. It was so nice to see Marlei again, I've missed her a lot. We gave Robert a gift card to the Provo movie theater, we know he likes movies. It was really nice to be there as a family and enjoy the holiday together. It makes me grateful that we can easily spend it with both our families. We had cake and icecream to celebrate Marlei's birthday and it seemed like everyone had a really nice time.
Thank you Sean and Brynn so much for planning it and inviting us, we had a lot of fun!

17 week appointment
I saw the doctor again on Monday this week. We didn't get an ultrasound but we did finally get to hear the heartbeat and it was AMAZING! Jordan laughs at me because I'm always scared that we're going to get to the doctor's office and something freaky will happen...like the baby just won't be there anymore. I have all these silly fears and worries and I know they're unrealistic but I can't help it lol. We scheduled our next appointment in July which....drumroll please....is the BIG ONE. I'm so excited I can barely stand it. I feel like we've been waiting forever to find out what we're having and now that I'm on the last stretch...it's totally exhilarating. We haven't bought any bedding or decor for our nursery yet because we want it to be gender specific. I'm not doing any of this gender neutral crap. This baby is special and deserves to have a room decked out in it's honor. I have so many plans and I'm so excited. I love it when Jordan takes me to the baby stores to look at stuff.
We went to Burlington yesterday so I could show him a chair that I want. It's almost $400 so I don't know if it will work out, but it's at the end of my list since I already have a glider that my dad bought me. I'm actually so grateful to my mom and dad, they've already bought ALL of my baby furniture and I can't tell you what a relief it is to take those items off our list of needs. It's so great to have loving parents that can help. They're both so excited to be grandparents.
Anyway...we're at Burlington and they totally had the swing that I want. It was nice for Jordan to actually see it and examine it for himself. Up until then we'd only seen it online. It's the Gracco Sweetpeace Newborn Soothing Center. It's a pretty cool swing. I already have my travel system picked out, it's made by Babytrend. Jordan wanted to look at a few others and found a couple that he liked but the pros of my Babytrend selection won out. I really don't think we'll find something better because the one I've picked is AMAZING.
We've started to plan baby showers a little bit more. I know it's early but it's better to have it figured out now than to be running around like a bunch of crazies in September because we totally dropped the ball. I LOVE baby showers! They've always been my favorite and when it comes to shopping for gifts....baby gifts have always been my greatest love. I'm excited that I finally get to go to a shower that's for me. I love the games and I love sharing that time with family members that love and care about you.
I have one small dilemma right now, which I actually figured out but here it is....I wanted to send out really cute announcements to let people know what we're having, but when we find out we're gonna be so excited and we're just going to want to call everybody. Plus, I'm pretty sure they aren't going to want to wait for something in the mail when we can just tell them. So I'm thinking I'll send out announcements when the baby is born, complete with pics and stats.
I think that will work better. I figure it's easier to even just visit family since they live so close, and tell them in person.
Sure glad I don't live someplace like....I dunno....Logan. It's nice to be close to family.

16 weeks and 4 days...
I'm moving along in my pregnancy fairly well but I still feel so sick! Jordan has been such a trooper and I'm so glad but some days I feel like I've hit my limit and I'm just miserable. I left my first trimester feeling pretty good for about two weeks and then it was like my morning sickness came back in full force. It's changed in the fact that it is now worse in the morning than any other time of day....but I still gag on everything throughout the day. I am doing better with foods, I'm at a point where I can crave something and actually be able to eat it so that's a plus. It's going to be while before I go to KFC, they're commercials are totally grossing me out! I can't even look at them anymore. I have this new thing where all of a sudden I get really dizzy and I have to sit down because I feel like I'm going to faint.
I think I struggle the most with being sick alone. Jordan is working graveyards because it makes more money and he actually likes it better than working the day shift. I am so proud of him for working so hard. However, his schedule has been really hard on me. He's been working four nights out of the week lately and obviously that means I sleep alone. I try to call him before I go to sleep so I can say goodnight. He's there when I wake up but I have to be very quiet not wake him up. I feel bad anytime I have to turn on the lamp so some days I'll just go upstairs and lounge in my pajamas until he wakes up.....feeling extremely gross and lazy which usually ends in a bad day.
He doesn't usually wake up until two or three after a night of work and to keep his schedule consistent he tries to stay up late on his nights off too. He'll go to bed around three and wake up around noon or one the next morning. It's nice having him next to me on those nights, but it's still not the same and I still have to be quiet and respectful in the mornings. And I have to say that being so sick in the mornings is really hard. I want to wake him up and cry and tell him all of my frustrations but then I know I'm being selfish and I can't do that. I have a hard time at work and I struggle with the decision to quit everyday. I think my problem is that quitting will be like losing. I'm already feeling insufficient as a wife because some days it takes all my energy just to shower and I'm not making very much money at work.
I know that these aren't the first sacrifices we'll ever have to make and I try to look at this as one big long training session to see how well Jordan and I can adjust. I really try not to complain because I'm still so excited and so grateful to be pregnant. I'm excited to see my doctor next week because I'm hoping he can pull something out of his sleeve and help me to not be so sick. I'm working on my financial aid and I'm going to register for school this week. I'm both excited and nervous but I think things will work out.
We're so close to finding out what we're having, I think if I can make it to that point maybe I won't mind so much when I gag.

Salt Lake City...magical wonderland?
I had the craziest dream last night and it left me feeling so weird when I woke up this morning, I thought I would document it....on my blog. This is for everyone's enjoyment and I hope not their judgement (I've had some pretty weird dreams in my day) and I'd also like to note that I did not take my Unisom last night. I was sleeping drug free!
It started in Provo and my family was getting ready for a trip to Salt Lake for a concert. I decided to go along so I wouldn't be alone. We arrived in the city and parked the car in some random lot and decided we would walk to our destination. Well, as we're walking through town, we notice that there is a huge celebration going on. There are stands everywhere selling food, there are men on stilts, lots of toy stores and game shops...it was almost like a circus. We seperate and I meet up with Jordan, I'm totally thrilled because I didn't know he was going to be there. He's all decked out in this really nice tux and his hair is all wavy and perfect...totally dreamy right? He has this gorgeous dress for me and tells me to put it on or we're gonna be late. I pop into a clothing store to use their changing room and the next thing I know, my hair is perfect, my make up is stunning, and my dress is to die for.
I take Jordan's hand and we continue to walk into the heart of Salt Lake. We pass a few streets and before long, we can hear music and laughter. We come around a corner and there's a freaking parade! I lean in to Jordan and tell him, "Wow, we came just in time for a huge celebration. I wonder what the occasion is?" He just shrugs his shoulders, clearly he doesn't know or care. Then this little old lady laughs and says to me, "This is Salt Lake dear, we have parade's every weekend."
Really? I thought Salt Lake was this big dangerous city and turns out...it's a total magical wonderland. I couldn't believe it was like that every weekend, but I don't question it because it's so real. I'm just impressed and I tell Jordan, "I want to live here."
We arrive at this huge building that is totally white and almost sacred looking. We walk inside and it's all red carpet and soft music. Everyone else is dressed as if they're going to a ball. We walk into a huge banquet room where there are hundreds of people seated around a massive fireplace. Jordan and I take our seats and wait for the show to begin.
It turns out we're there to witness a demon execution. And nobody thinks this is weird, we're in the heart of SLC and apparantly demon executions are pretty common. Everyone is pretty somber and waiting patiently to perform their duty as witness. After visiting and chatting with those seated around us, the lights in the room go down indicating they're about to start. The flames in the giant fireplace leap almost to the cealing and the Judge steps out. He was an angel but he was not pretty....more terrifying actually. He looked like the egyptian god Ra and had flames leaping all over his body. He was huge! There was a massive desk set just in front of the fireplace and that's where he took his seat.
There was a loud commotion down the hall and we knew they were bringing the demons in. We could see them through the wall and they were even more terrifying than the Judge. Some of them had animal legs and pumpkin heads and red glowing eyes. They were fierce and we knew they meant business. They had no place in this magical city and we were there to send them to hell.
They were almost in the room with us, being ushered one at a time when one broke loose and started to tear down the walls. The whole building shook and Jordan grabbed my hand really hard and said, "We have to get out of here, now." I was terrified and so confused. But then I realized we weren't there to be witnesses at all, we were there to be sacrifices. We were there to die. Jordan and I bolted from the room, opposite from where the demons were fighting to get in. We couldn't go downstairs and out the front because all the exits were blocked by soldiers. We ran to the nearest window and jumped down onto a lower landing, where we were then able to jump to the ground.
Jordan wouldn't let go of my hand and nearly dragged me through the streets we were running so hard. The city was no longer colorful and joyous, it was all dark and black and looked like a wasteland. We hit a neighborhood of homes and we knew there was a demon on our tails. Jodran was frantic. He said if we could find one home willing to let us in, we'd be safe. We finally found one with the lights still on and we knocked anxiously on their door. A woman opened the door and cheerfully invited us in. They were celebrating a birthday and there was balloons and cake. We walked inside and watched her close the door, still terrified.
A few moments later there was a knock and we watched in horror as she let the demon inside. He was so big and so menacing, I cowered where I stood....too scared to move at all. I could hear Jordan behind me saying, "Don't look at him. Just look at me and think about how much you love me." So I stared at him, even though I could feel the demon leaning over me...ready to take me...I didn't look away from Jordan's handsome face. And then it was over. The demon was gone and I knew we had survived because of our love for each other.
At his point my alarm goes off and I wake up thinking....what the crap?! I had been squeezing my fists so hard both my hands were totally numb. Jordan woke up and asked me if I was okay, I just told him I had a scary dream and started to get ready for work.
Pretty creepy huh?
