What do you think!

What do you think of my new lamp? I really like it, I found it on KSL today for $13, what a deal! I can't wait to put it in our new apartment.

New Home Decor

I got to go with Brynn, Noah and Ellie this morning on a shopping trip to the DI. We were on the hunt for picture frames for my new apartment. I love getting to spend time with Noah and Ellie they are both so cute. I tried to help Noah get into his car seat when we left and he told me his mom did it EVERY time, so I couldn't finish his buckle for him. It made me laugh.
I found some really cool frames with Brynn's help and I'm so excited to paint them. I went to WalMart and picked up a few different colors of paint. I'm thinking I want to do brown and white frames in my living room, black and red in the kitchen, and I'm still thinking about what to do in our bedroom. I have a few paintings I want to frame and some will go in the kitchen. I can't wait to move into our new place and get them hung. I'm really going to need to get rid of a lot of stuff though. Jordan and I have way too much junk. Thanks Brynn!

I'm having a crappy day....and you're drinking my coke?!

We found an apartment today! Jordan and I were so nervous. We found an apartment in Springville today and knew right away that it was our winner. We had looked at three others and they just didn't feel right. We told the landlord we wanted it and he said we just needed to clear a credit check. So we give him our information and he tells us he'll give us a call in thirty or forty minutes. So we're totally thrilled about it and can't wait to tell everybody. He calls back and tells us we cleared the credit check and everything looks good. So Jordan tells him we'll bring him the check for the deposit. Well...he calls back a couple of minutes later and says that his wife wants him to go ahead and show the apartment to another couple just to keep their options open..............what the heck does that mean? So we're totally taken by surprise, and all of a sudden very depressed because what if they decide to go with the other couple?? So I tell Jordan, it's okay it's okay, we just have to hope that this other couple is totally ghetto and they don't have a chance at OUR apartment. So then we both go all quiet because we're both freaking out at this point. In an effort to distract us from our moping, I suggest we go to the bank and finally change the name on my account from Olson to Leavitt. Yep...still haven't done that.
So we get to the bank and I decide to have them fix another problem I've had for a while now. They show that I have two car loans with them, but it should have been one. So every time I get my credit pulled, people get confused because it shows that Jordan and I currently have loans on three cars and not two. The teller gives me the information I need and then sends me to some old lady to change my name. She starts changing my information in the computer and I mention to Jordan that we have to call another guy to fix the loan problem. So the old lady butts in and starts saying how they can't do that and blah blah blah. I interrupted her at least three times and said, "Yeah, I just need my name changed thanks. I really just need my name changed. Just change my name please." We finally get it done and when we walk out, Jordan just starts laughing his head off. He thinks its hilarious that she had no idea I was being a bitch.
At this point we decide to go to Dairy Queen for lunch and we go to pay for our food and realize my debit card is lost. I start to giggle and I'm like...hmmm...wonder where it is. Jordan starts to laugh because I'm totally unconcerned about it, then asks me where it is. So I tell him that I really don't know and we both kind of laugh harder. We're both so depressed about the apartment situation, we're totally desensitized! The poor girl taking our order starts to laugh because we're so silly, and we sit down to eat our lunch. Before I know it, Jordan starts downing my coke! So I say, "I'm having a crappy day and you're drinking my coke?!" and he says, "I'm having a crappy day and I have no coke." It was too funny, I couldn't say no to that so I let him drink my coke. We walk out enjoying our Dilly Sticks (icecream for those of you with dirty minds) and finally we get a call from the landlord and they've decided to go ahead with us.

......we moped for nothing.

Good News and a Case of the Sillies!

Today was a really good day. Even though I had to work, today was still a good day. I finally, finally got my school money and the bills are paid! We fixed Jordan's car and it cost us less than two hundred dollars, so that's very exciting. Now all we have to do is find a place to live and right now....I'm feeling pretty darn confident and I've been giggling about everything all day. I don't know what my deal is but I've been just silly. We got our tickets for the Circus today and I can't wait! I'm so excited to go with my way cool sister in law and her ADORABLE kids! Funny story about that though.....we went to the school because the circus is going to be at the McKay Events Center and we thought we'd check to see if we get discounted tickets as students. So we go to Campus Connection (where you would normally buy tickets for events going on at the school) and the kid was like...circus? The circus is coming? LOL! At which point I'm thinking, oh dear. So he gives us the phone and dials over to the events center ticket box office and nobody answers. So we figure we can just walk down there, no big deal. So we walk all the way down there and get to the first floor, which...by the way...smelled like stinky socks and burnt food and there's nobody in the box office but it says they're open. Then we see this kid walk in and start running some kind of cleaning machine that's insanely loud. He looks at us a few times, but doesn't walk over to help us. So I'm starting to get pissed and I'm standing in the hallway yelling about how worthless the school is. So we go into another office and find a lady who tells us she has no idea how much tickets are and that we can come back tomorrow. WHAT! So we leave and I'm fuming at this point. Here's a list of my school problems up until now....

1. Financial aid has no idea what they're doing, huge lack of communication. Every day we find out there's a new form to fill out, they can't just let us know what we need so we can get it all done in one day.
2. Collections has no idea what they're doing, more lack of communication. Every semester I have to go down there and tell them to put my scholarship check towards my tuition (you'd think that would be assumed but it's not) and THEN they give it to the cashier. Otherwise, it just sits down there and collects dust, yeah that's productive.
3. The cashiers don't know anything about anything. Collections tells us they'll cut me a check, then the cashier issues a direct deposit which takes three days longer. ???
4. Campus Connection. You sell tickets! For school events! So shouldn't you know the school events that are going on?
5. The bookstore. They're supposed to have a packet of school events which they know nothing about, and of course campus connection is clueless and guess what....so is student government!

Here is my conclusion. They have students working in all these departments/areas, which is great, but they don't know anything. So I'm putting a suggestion in their suggestion box.....

Know your sh**!

Anyway...there are my feelings about that. We ended up just going to Smith's and buying our circus tickets there. Which I should have done in the first place but oh well. You know what they say about hindsight.

Still....today was a good day.

When it rains....it pours.

I've always been deathly afraid of cars. I'm not so much afraid of getting into an accident, it's more the fear of breaking down. If I've learned anything in my few short years of driving, it is this....cars will always fail at the worst moments in your life. You know you've hit rock bottom when your car breaks down. At least I do anyway. We bought a Yaris last year and it's wonderful, I've been so careful with it and made sure the maintenance gets done on time and anytime Jordan drives a little crazy with it...I always make sure to reign him in. We also bought a '99 Jetta from my parents last year, in very good condition. Haven't been too worried about either car, things have been great.
Well, it got a little more difficult when Christmas came, when is Christmas ever easy? Seriously. So when the New Year came we were so excited to get our financial aid. Jordan wants a new laptop and I just want to be caught up on bills....and maybe a new flat iron would be nice. So I'm scheduled to pick up my check at the school tomorrow and guess what? THE FREAKING JETTA GOES HAYWIRE ON US! So...goodbye laptop, and goodbye new flat iron (dang!) and hello hella expensive mechanic. I hate cars. I hate '99 Jetta's. They're totally worthless. Right now anyway.
So tomorrow I get to deposit my check and then kiss it goodbye so that we can fix the dang car. I swear this always happens to me when I'm about to get a nice chunk of money. I wonder what will happen when we get our tax return? I'll probably get like...three flats and have to have my car towed for some ridiculously large amount, and then be forced to buy three new tires. Or something like that. I don't want to sound like Celeste here, but sometimes I wonder at times like these if I'm being punished.......then I have a good laugh and shove it off. All I can do is take care of it. That's life, even now I'm laughing at my crappy luck. At least I can look forward to apartment hunting, I'm hoping to get lucky there and I've been watching the ads everyday like crazy. Wish me luck! I think I may need it ha ha.

Here's a funny picture for you....Jayson and I found it in Orem and we had a good laugh.

Ice Palace

So Jordan and I went to dinner at a friends house a couple weeks ago and we passed a house that had the most amazing ice sculpture in their yard. Jordan and I both just stared as we drove by. It was beautiful! Here are some pics that we took and some pics that other people took as well. AMAZING!

And I thought my house was bad....

So I'm sure that every woman out there would say there is work to be done on their house right now. It's either messy or cluttered, or it needs more interior decor....whatever. You have guests come over, you apologize for the mess (what mess right?) and you tidy up a little, no big deal. I mean...my house gets cluttered but I can honestly say that I feel that it's not messy. After today however, I can honestly say that I feel that my house is spotless in it's current state.
My family had the lovely (not really) privelage (HA!) of cleaning what I've come to call, the Nightmare House this week. Here's a little background information on what we'll dub NMH for shorter typing purposes. I met Jayson when I was sixteen and we became really good friends a year later and have stayed friends ever since. Not once has he ever invited me into his house for reasons that will become clear shortly. When I met Jordan and we started dating, he too would not allow me into his mother's house. They both told me it was disgusting and that it would be better if I just didn't go in.
Now...I'd heard stories from various members of the family concerning this NMH, all involving words like gross, atrocious, health hazard, disgusting....etc. and I just let it go at that. I had a picture in my mind, just from the smell alone, and had no desire to see inside. Anything and everything that came out of that house smelled like musty old animal piss....no joke. I was thrilled when Jordan was finally able to move out. We didn't even bother washing his clothes, we bought him new ones....and we were both sad to have to throw his cologne away (even that was tainted buy the NMH smell).
Finally, after years of having the NMH loom over everybody, Jordan's mom moved out and abandoned it. Really. Didn't even take all her stuff. So the Leavitt kids get together, wanting to be done with the NMH, and decide we're going to empty it out and try to sell it...hence the reason for going down there this week to "clean". We picked out our dingiest clothes, donned our rubber gloves and face masks....and entered the NMH. Now this was my first time inside and I was seriously blown away. My first thought was to wonder how someone could let their home get that bad. The carpet was completely ruined and covered in piss, poop, garbage and who knows what else. There was one spot in the living room where it looked like animal poop had been smeared down the wall (don't know how that one happened...don't really want to).
Jordan and I go into what used to be his room to scoop garbage into trash bags and clear it out. At this point, the house has only been empty for about a month and the utilities have been shut off. It's below freezing! Which we eventually decided to be glad for because if it were mid-summer, there would be no way to ignore the smell. So I'm holding the trash bag...to afraid to move because there's mouse poop all over the place and totally stunned at the filth. Jordan handed me an old, rotten, crusty brownish orange cheese stick, still in the package thank goodness and oh susanna! I will never eat string cheese ever again. So I throw it in the trash bag and decide to turn my body toward the door and there's a milk carton stuck to the door about a foot above the floor. ?! How does that happen! So Jordan literally has to peel it off, still leaving some of the carton behind....at this point, Brynn starts squealing from the kitchen. Turns out, she's cleaning the fridge. I come around to take a peek and I can see what can only be described as sludge all over the surrounding floor. She's yelling for no one to come in because the fridge is full of weavel and maggots. Weavel and maggots! So she continues to clean the fridge while trying not to puke and Sean and Nedra have grabbed a couple brooms so they can just start sweeping up the garbage.
Just when I'm thinking we're about done upstairs I decide to venture downstairs to the basement and immediately wish I hadn't. It was full of junk too! Clothes, furniture, garbage, used cat litter....is EVERYWHERE. I was so overwhelmed! We decided to call it a day and come back later in the week and we all head home to shower (a couple of times for a few of us).
Two days later, some pipes break and the basement floods. It's now covered by a foot of water. Lovely. Now we get to shovel everything out in buckets....soaking wet. At this point, Jordan's mom has washed her hands of it and is no longer there to help. Which is probably for the best because it's hella awkward anyway....cleaning up their mess and all. It's not even close to being finished but I will be so relieved when this mess is done. Anymore projects like this one though and Jordan's mother....is on her own.

Starting out 2009

Hey all! So is anyone else still stuck in 2008? I make myself laugh every new year because I always feel like it's this huge milestone and that it's going to be so different as soon as we hit that next year....and yet I continue to lag behind. It's like I'm waiting for things to change on their own, without any effort on my part, and then when nothing happens I'm totally stumped. Well, this year I'm determined to stay ahead! I'm excited to spend money more wisely, eat healthier, and live alone with my sexy husband. I feel like our honeymoon phase can finally begin! More romance and wooing...you know, all the good stuff. I'm ready for school next week (I think) and I'm working, and in just a couple more months Jordan and I will be moving. So, I think it's best that I go ahead and put out my goals for 2009....and stay realistic, he he he.

1. Eat healthier
2. Drive less....angry
3. Save money
4. Spend more time with family
5. Do more for Jordan (cleaning house, preparing meals, showing affection, ect.)
6. Get my cat to like me

I think that's a pretty good list. I don't want to overwhelm myself. Oh wait! I need to add one more thing....

7. Find a job that's better than Allen's

I hate my job. I would love to go back to being a receptionist. I think that of all the jobs I've worked so far, I love being a receptionist the best. So that's it! Those are my goals for 2009 and I'm so excited. I'm trying to keep a better attitude about everything in my life right now, and everything not in my life right now. Good luck to all of you who have set your goals!
