Cooper's latest kill....

My family has this cat named Cooper that we got from Taraleigh years ago. We absolutely love him, he's a total crack up. He has so much attitude and personality. As much as we love him, we always cringe when the weather warms up and summer enters its reign. That's when hunting season starts.....for the cat. We're a little surprised that he can still hunt so well because he doesn't have claws on his front two feet. It doesn't seem to hamper him at all. We've had all kinds of horror stories over the years. He likes to bring his victims inside the house so he can show off his mad hunting skills. Sometimes the poor critters are dead....but more often, they're not.

We've spent hours on more than one occasion, trying to catch live birds and get them out of the house...Cooper watching proudly the whole time. We've gone through innumerable amounts of screams and squeals trying to get live snakes out of the house....and don't even get me started on mice. Here's a little info on his latest catch.....

Jordan and I are in our bedroom and he's getting ready for work. I close the door so he can change and then we end up laying on the bed chatting about our week. All of a sudden, there's a huge crash outside the door. I give Jordan my, "What the heck?!" look and we both just kind of laugh it off. We figured it was one of the dogs or the cats jumping around in the other room, most days it's like a circus at our house.

We keep talking and in the meantime, there's a whole ruckus of noise going on. Finally I tell Jordan he better open the door and check it out. Lo and behold it's Cooper, sitting patiently at our door.....with a dead, mangled quail laying against the door.

I freaked.

Jordan is searching the room for something he can use to pick up the dead bird, because if we don't take it away quick it just gets harder to catch the dang cat. He grabs and old dishcloth that he can throw away after and hauls it out. I come walking out of the room and there are feathers EVERYWHERE. He was out there banging the poor thing against the walls trying to get it into our room! Jordan had to come down with the shop vac and clean up all the feathers before I totally lost my cookies.

Cooper spent the rest of the day pissed at us for taking away his prize. Boo.....hoo.

Egg Roll Night

About a week ago Sean and Brynn invited us to their place for a night of games and homemade egg rolls. We were so excited because love spending time with them and their two beautiful kids and it's nice to get out of the house and spend time with other people. We agreed to come and were told to not bring anything this time, it was Sean and Brynn's treat. So Wednesday came and we were so excited. We left the house that morning to run some errands and pay some bills. I took Jordan to Yamato's in Orem for lunch. He'd never been there and it's one of those Japanese places with fantastic sushi. I was so excited that my doctor cleared me to eat sushi just two days before, so we figured we'd celebrate....with some sushi! It was fantastic and Jordan loved it. He said it's his new favorite place to get sushi. We came home and sat around until 3:00 o'clock at which point I called Brynn to see if we could come early.....we were bored out of our minds! She laughed and told us to come right over. After a stop at Borders for a new book and several detours thanks to some nasty traffic accidents, we finally made it to Sean and Brynn's.

Noah and Ellie were excited to see us and Noah was totally ready for games. Sean wasn't there yet so Brynn and I decided we'd kill some time and go get drinks. We left Jordan with the kids and took a drive to the gas station. Before we left, Noah made sure to give us his own special request. He asked Brynn for an icee because, and I quote..."Icee's are good for kids". We both had a good laugh, he's such a funny kid. We came back with everyone's drinks and Sean was home so they got the egg rolls started. I was nervous, because lately I've been craving Chinese food like crazy....I just don't do well with egg rolls. However, I do know that Sean and Brynn are fantastic cooks so these egg rolls had to be tasty.

They were more than tasty......they were AMAZING!!! Best egg rolls I've ever had in my life! I totally ate four of them and I felt like a total piggy, but I couldn't help it. Sean did an amazing job and we hope that we can learn to cook them just as well. I'd love to share them with my family, they were so yummy.

After dinner, we let the boys play games while the ladies went to Roberts for some crafty fun. Ellie was looking totally hot in her tutu, bunny ears, and superwoman cape and we had a nice time looking for cute things at Roberts. Usually I end up going with Jordan, bless his heart, but it's just not his element. It was so fun to go with Brynn who has such a good eye for super cute stuff and it was even better to get her feedback on the stickers I wanted.

We got back in time for Brynn to put the kids to bed and then we spent another few hours talking and laughing over funny stories. It was really great. We get to spend a lot of time with Brynn and we adore her. It was great to be able to spend time with Sean, I know it meant a lot to Jordan. It's so great for me to see him growing closer to his brothers, especially after all the family stuff that's happened this year. My family is great but it's not the same for him. I'm so glad that he can spend time not just with Jayson, but with Tyler and Sean as well. It's very important to us to keep those ties strong, not just in times of stress and drama but also when things get quiet and easy....that's when it's most important.

Thanks Sean and Brynn for a fantastic dinner and an evening of light hearted fun, we needed it!

My sweet little baby...

We had our second appointment this week and it went so good. The first time we went in we waited over an hour before they finally called us back, I hate that. This time we went earlier in the afternoon and we were the only ones there. After the last time, it was almost like being in a twilight zone and Jordan and I both laughed when we walked into the office. The receptionist kind of laughed with us (I really don't think she knew what was so funny though). They called us back and the nurse starts taking my vitals, then tells me to go pee in a cup....again. My face went a little blank and I was like...

"Again?"
"Oh yeah," she says. "We'll have you do that everytime you come."

I was so bummed! I hate peeing in those stupid dang cups. And! Since I didn't know I would have to do that again, I didn't come prepared with a full bladder. So then I get to sit there forever trying to produce something, anything! And meanwhile, Jordan and the nurse are wondering what's taking me so long. So I hand over the pathetic result of my hard work and head into the exam room to take a seat.

The doctor comes in two seconds later....awesome! I love this no waiting thing, it's great.
He says, "Thirteen weeks huh? So your for real now."
We kind of laugh and we're like, "Yep."
I'm so excited I tell him I've already scrapbooked my last ultrasound picture and he totally laughs. He has me lay back so we can take a look at the baby and we're totally stunned!

My baby is so big! It looks like a baby! A real, honest to goodness, human baby! It has a head and legs and arms....I'm totally speechless. Four weeks? Just four weeks and it grew that much! No wonder I'm so freaking tired all the time!!! We got see it's tiny little heart just pumping away, it was insane! He tells me that since I'm a scrapbooker he'll print another picture for me and I'm so excited, because I totally didn't expect to get another one.

We scheduled our next appointment and went home. I called my family to tell them all about it because I was so excited and we started taking votes on whether it's a boy or a girl. So far it's a pretty even split. I can't wait for my next appointment. I'm almost fourteen weeks now and out of the first trimester, woohoo! However, I still gag. It's not quite so sensitive but it's still there.

I work two, three days a week for five hours at a time and I come home EXHAUSTED. I hate that. I think back to other times in my life when I was working a full time job, a part time job, AND going to school and I just laugh. I try really hard not to complain around Jordan because he has to work such long shifts and here I am boobing over five hours on my feet. It makes me feel so pathetic. He's so good about it though, he just laughs at me and tells me to make us dang good looking baby.

Be HaPpY!

I woke up this morning thinking I'd do some work on the computer today, catch up on perusing other blogs, touch base on facebook, clean out my email (it was a mess) and update the music on my own blog. So I'm going through the itunes on my mom's computer because she doesn't delete anything...ever.

Lo and behold I come across Aqua.

AQUA!!

I laughed so hard and then immediately began playing their songs. Too funny! I'm sitting upstairs, all by myself totally jammin' out to Aqua and having the best time of my life. My family is at church (where I should be but I'm too much of a slacker) and Jordan is sound asleep downstairs.

Listening to Aqua totally reminded me of being ten or eleven and seriously rockin' out in my mom's living room. I used to pretend that I was a dancer at a concert and I went totally crazy. I always thought it would be fun to put on a performance in our front yard but I never did. It's so good to connect with those kind of memories after so long, nice to know they weren't all bad.

So I had no choice but to put the songs on a disc so that I could totally jam out in my car for my birthday tomorrow (we have a few errands to run). All I ask is that you pray for Jordan......

The most unlikely of friends...

Our little Jessa and my dad's big Rusty are the best of friends. It's funny, but I can tell that Jessa is so much happier here than at our apartment in Springville. Even though the rest of the "pack" sleeps upstairs with my parents, Jessa still sleeps downstairs curled up next to me. She has such a sweet little heart and I love her so much. She gets up in the morning after my dad leaves and she can hear Rusty walking around upstairs. The two of them play together all day until bedtime, at which point Jessa is ExHaUsTeD! It's so cute. Whenever you see one of them you know the other isn't far behind. They are the most unlikely of friends. Rusty shares everything with Jessa....toys, bones, food, etc. When they get tired from running around in the backyard they'll come inside and curl up with each other on the kitchen floor. I'm so glad that Jessa has such a good friend.

A Friday Outing

I got to have lunch with a very good friend today who I haven't seen in quite a while. Her name is Taraleigh and she is also married to a Jordan. They have a beautiful baby girl named Lily and she is absolutely adorable! I have to admit I'm very ashamed at my inability to stay close and involved with the people in my life and I am truly starting to make more of an effort to keep those ties close. Taraleigh picked me up and we went to Panda for a super yummy lunch that did not make me sick, WoOhOo! Then we went to her mom's house where little Lily was waiting and played with her mom's cricut (one more week and I too will be joining the cricut club). Her mom has an amazing piece of heaven right in her home and I am always amazed out how talented she is when it comes to crafts. She has scrapbook everything in a cute little corner where she does all of her fantastic work. When Lily woke up from her nap we drove to Taraleigh's house and played with her kitten, while discussing more scrapbook ideas and favorites. Even though I'm still fighting my morning sickness it was so nice to touch base with her again and meet her sweet little baby. It makes me so so excited to have my own baby here in November. Thank you Taraleigh for a wonderful day and a chance to catch up!

New bully in town?

We have been living with my parents now for one whole week and Jordan has already been beaten senseless.....by the dog. I was sitting in the kitchen the other day and Jordan needed to run out to the car for something. Jessa (our dog) and Rusty (my dad's labrador) were both in the kitchen watching. Jordan took pity on their bored little faces and asked Jessa if she wanted to go outside with him. She got so excited and ran out the door when he opened it....followed EXTREMELY quickly by Rusty, who Jordan meant to stay inside. He goes out the door after her and all I can hear is him yelling her name.

Well, a few minutes later he comes in with both dogs and a bloody mouth! And boy is he MAD. Rusty is just staring at him and I'm worried because it looks like he might have lost a tooth, I couldn't really tell through all the blood. So I ask him if he's okay and he says its just his lip that's bleeding. I ask him what happened and he tells me that he opened the car door and Rusty was so excited (she thought she was going for a ride) she jumped in before he could get out of the way. As a result, his face got slammed into the car door leaving him with a bloody, fat lip.

At this point I'm laughing hysterically and he's even more pissed and trying to clean himself up. My only regret is not being able to see it for myself!
