We are back...

with Kids on the Move.  I've been concerned for months now about Tobi's walking, and the lack of progress we are continuing to experience.  He still has a bit of a zombie walk, like his balance is off, and he doesn't run very well.  He sure tries, but it just isn't there.  We've been watching his feet and he still walks on the insides and we're wondering if maybe it's an orthopedic issue.  We've also been having some tantrum issues, now don't get me wrong...I know he's two and tantrums are normal for his age but he does some things when he's upset that have us concerned.  It first started with hitting.  If he plays with another kid, and gets hit, whether accidental or on purpose, he freaks out and starts hitting himself.  Then he gets even more upset because he's hurting himself.  At first he would only do it if someone else touched him, now he will do it regularly when throwing fits...it doesn't matter if anyone has touched him he just starts hitting himself.  Sometimes he'll slap his arms or legs, or hit himself in the face.  It's the weirdest thing and I've struggled because when he does this, there is NO consoling him.  We just have to let it play out until he's calm.  He also gets VERY angry when he doesn't get what he wants.  The best way for me to describe it is like a blind rage.  Again, there is no calming him, we just have to wait it out.  Luckily we can follow his moods and see when a tantrum might come up and we've been able to work around them, however, they still happen.  When he's calm he's the sweetest, cutest little boy.  He's so polite and his communication right now is great, so I don't think it's frustration from not being able to communicate, he does that very well.  I think it's just that he gets so mad he can't control himself.  KOTM will be meeting with him next week for an evaluation at which point we will get right to work.  They can only help kids like Tobi until they are three, which gives us until November to work with them.  At that point they would refer us to the school system.  He did so amazing with them last year that I'm hoping we can figure out how to help him improve before he turns three.
